~140 words on Investigative Focus of Sculpture-Charcoal-Painting Process

         The sculpture's meaning revolves around the idea of growth, as demonstrated by the branches taking route in the clouds (which are actually located at the bottom of the piece) and the wings at the bottom of the tree, where roots would usually be growing; instead of idleness there is flight.

         The rippling charcoal piece includes another motif within this process: the concept of reaching a wide variety of people/places around the world with the "branches" of art history, the same way that art has brought excitement, enjoyment, and comfort to all kinds of people all over the world. 

         I also used maps from the textbook that we annihilated to build the branches of  the sculpture, as another way of displaying the way that art travels and reaches out.
